Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the heart of São Joaquim, the São Joaquim Park Hotel offered a delightful winter getaway for my family and me, helping us escape the brisk chill of early April. We started our stay in a lovely suite on the 10th floor, and the panoramic views were simply stunning – it's hard to beat the visual beauty of a town blanketed in frost. It’s worth mentioning that the shower left much to be desired, which was a minor disappointment amidst the overall charm. The following nights saw us move to a regular room on the 7th floor, which, while slightly less extravagant, provided an excellent shower experience with impressive water pressure to fend off the cold – a real highlight! Each morning began with a scrumptious buffet breakfast on the 11th floor, featuring the warm Sao Joaquim traditional “Rosca de Coalhada,” which was woefully addictive. While the hotel could benefit from a little sprucing up in terms of decor and some maintenance – as a distinct smell from the linens did catch me off guard – the friendly staff proved accommodating. It's worth noting that English isn’t widely spoken here, yet the good-natured front desk clerks were always ready to assist. Just a friendly reminder: if you’re planning to visit in peak season, reserving in advance is essential to secure your cozy escape in this charming Brazilian city.
